About Trans World Events

Nick Brittan's TWE Club is acknowledged as the world leading organiser of long distance marathon rallies and adventure challenges. Brittan's has 30+ years in motor sport first as a works race and rally driver (in the Ford team on the 1968 London-Sidney Marathon) and then in top International motorsport management in Formula One and World Championship rallying.

Over the past twelve years we've produced 7 major internationally acclaimed marathon events taking over 560 cars and nearly 1,200 people through 66 countries covering over 90,000 kms across the world. That makes us the world leader in marathon competition and adventure rallies.

Check "Past Events" for details of them all and "Shop & Ads" for books and videos about them.

TWE created the 25th anniversary of the original London-Sydney Marathon in 1993 attracting 21 of the original competitors back to do it all again. The event was a huge success and TWE took off from there. In 1995 the 25th anniversary of the famed London-Mexico Rally was run - another great success.

Then came new events, the Panama-Alaska Rally in 1997, the much acclaimed Shield of Africa in 1998, Midnight Sun to Red Sea in 2002 and London-Sydney Marathons again in 2000 and 2004.

Seven major International benchmark events crossing six continents. Check Past Events for details.

TWE pioneered the use of the giant Russian Antonov cargo planes providing the development capital and helping design the racking systems which provides the capability for each aircraft to carry 54 cars. Now, overnight, a whole event can be airlifted from one continent to another. A spectacular development which added a whole new dimension to long distance rallying.

TWE's events now run three categories. The Rally is a full-on special stage event with stages timed to the second - fastest man wins ! There are two groups, one for pre-1978 classic cars and one for modern modified showroom cars under 2-litres prepared to FIA Group N regulations.

The Challenge is in three classes - one for pre-78 Classics, one for 4x4 recreational vehicles and the third for other suitable cars. In all classes no competition licence or special vehicle preparation is needed. It runs regularity sections where maintaining a brisk average speed is the name of the game rather than outright speeds. The Challenge is a motoring adventure.

Just Touring is for those who wish to cruise at their own pace making whatever stops and diversions they wish each day

For motoring adventurers who don't have a car for the job TWE pioneered the "Renta 4X4" for their events. Pick it up at the start and drop it off at the finish - it's that easy !

TWE's competitors tell us we run the best events and that's because we have the best and most experienced team of "Redshirt" officials, so called because on the very first event they were uniformed in red shirts. The name given to them by competitors stuck and the red shirt uniform remains - new shirts for each event ! The depth of experience is enormous and many of the team have been with TWE since the first event in 1993.

TWE is the only organisation running events to the FIA Long Distance Rally Regulations - a distinction we are justly proud of.

The Redshirts are the legendary team of Officials who keep TWE events ticking like a Swiss watch. The most experienced, knowledgeable and user-friendly team in International Motorsport. They combine a firm hand administering the FIA regulations with friendly advice and encouragement to competitors.
